The best way to build backlinks in 2021 is to get weird.

Stop using the same old strategies for link building that your competitors are using. Because they’re more expensive and less effective than the strategies I’m about to show you.

And no – don’t just focus on optimizing your website to increase Google rankings.

You need a Link Building strategy that is going to do the heavy lifting for you in 2021. Maybe even beyond!

Let’s get weird!

Use HARO for Backlinks, Traffic and PR

HARO – Help a Reporter Out is an email subscription list that connects journalists looking for experts or sources with people in various industries that can help them or provide information that’s relevant to their story.

Links from the media are among the most substantial and authoritative backlinks you can build to your site.

In other words, it’s a gold mine of sources and backlinks for you.

The best thing about HARO is that journalists come to you. This differs from most link building tactics, where you are required to do all of the outreach.

What’s even better is that big media outlets are using the service. We’re talking Mashable, Time, Fox News, Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, to name a few.

So you’re not just getting links from small bloggers – You can obtain quality links that high-level publications will provide.

Use Facebook Groups as your Link Building Strategy

When it comes to link building, Facebook Groups is an often overlooked channel.

This is a huge mistake!

Facebook has over 2.8 billion users and can be leveraged to drive massive amounts of traffic to your site while building powerful backlinks.

One thing I’d like you to keep in mind: You need to approach this strategy thoughtfully.

You can’t run a simple Facebook Group campaign and expect results. You have to treat Facebook groups like any other online marketing channel.

First, find the largest Facebook group on every relevant topic that you can think of.

Look for groups with thousands or hundreds of thousands of active users in them. The more engaged they are, the better!

Once you’ve found a large group – spend some time reading through it and see if you can see any opportunities to provide value.

In many cases, members of the group will start asking questions about issues that they’re facing and opportunities to provide value arise.

Share some high-quality content relevant to what the group is talking about or provide an answer to questions that they may have.

If you provide value to the group, its members will start seeing you as valuable and possibly even engage with your content.

This, in turn, creates opportunities for building backlinks by mentioning or referencing your site.

Use Video Outreach for Link Building

This is a technique that has been working very well for me this year.

It involves sending a personalized video to reach out to bloggers, influencers, or news channels to get a link back to your site.

This type of outreach tends to result in a much higher response rate. Plus, your video also has a high potential of getting embedded into their page for increased exposure.

As long as your video is relevant and helpful, this outreach technique will generally be much more successful than direct email outreach.

Here’s a video guide and article on how to land HIGH DR BACKLINKS with video outreach!

Conclusion

So there you have it – 3 weird and unexpected ways to get backlinks in 2021.

If you’re a fan of creating quality content, then HARO and Facebook Groups are going to be your best friends. I guarantee that these two channels will help you out if you use them correctly!

Video outreach is something that we have been experimenting with heavily this year and I can say that it has been working very well for us.

Keep in mind that when you’re doing link building, focus on creating valuable content that people will enjoy. This is the only way to build a long-term strategy for your site!
