Grok Bot vs Gemini Spark needs one update first: Google has renamed Gemini Spark. Its help page says Spark was tested in beta from May and is now called Task, found in the Chat and Task toggle next to the prompt box, and existing tasks and schedules are still there. So this page compares Grok Bot with Tasks in Gemini, the product Spark became, using only the official docs checked on 6 November 2026. My video is right under this intro.
Key takeaways
- Gemini Spark is now called Tasks in Gemini; old tasks and schedules carry over.
- Grok Bot: your Bots share one persistent cloud computer, each with its own screen.
- Tasks in Gemini browse with your local Chrome or a remote cloud browser.
- Tasks in Gemini need a personal Google Account and aren’t offered in the UK or EEA yet.

What happened to Gemini Spark
Google launched Gemini Spark on 19 May 2026 as a 24/7 personal AI agent in beta. The current Gemini help page answers “Where did Spark go?”: people kept asking Gemini to finish “tasks”, so Google renamed it Task. You switch to it with the Chat and Task toggle, and your existing tasks and schedules are in the sidebar.

Browsing and where the work runs
Grok Bot works from a persistent cloud computer with a browser, command line and files. All your Bots share it, each gets its own screen, and sign-ins persist.
Tasks in Gemini can connect to your local Chrome on desktop, using the sites you’re signed into, or use a remote browser in the cloud. With the local browser you must keep your device and Chrome running. The remote browser keeps working when you close your device, but pauses on steps like signing in until you take over.
Apps and skills
Grok Bot connects apps account-wide and can add MCP servers. Tasks in Gemini use Connected Apps, skills, your chats, signed-in websites and Personal Intelligence. In Google Workspace they can check your calendar, RSVP, schedule events and search and summarise your email. Type @ in a task to use a saved skill.
Who can use each one
The Gemini help page lists the requirements for tasks:
- A personal Google Account; work and school accounts aren’t supported yet.
- A Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
- Keep Activity on and Personal Intelligence turned on.
- Not yet available in the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland or the UK.
Grok Bot has personal use plus shared Bots for teams, and runs on desktop, phone and Slack.

Safety and approvals
Grok Bot uses Auto Review, approval cards and the Vault, so the Bot never sees saved passwords.
Google says Gemini asks for confirmation before web browsing on every task, advises not to type sign-in or payment details into the task thread, and warns that a schedule running while you’re offline may finish an action you didn’t intend.
My verdict
For personal errands inside Google’s world, such as Gmail, Calendar and travel, Tasks in Gemini is the natural pick. For business roles that run every day, team sharing and app triggers, Grok Bot is stronger. That’s where Grok Bot vs Gemini Spark lands now that Spark is called Tasks.
