There are now lots of Hermes Agent dashboards — the built-in one, the Hermes Cloud dashboard, Hermes Desktop, Herald OS, Hermes3D and my own Agent OS — and they’re good at different things. In the video below I show Hermes Cloud with the Agent OS. Here’s every dashboard compared, what each is best for, and the setup I’d recommend.
Key takeaways
- The built-in dashboard (
hermes dashboard) is free and official. - Hermes Cloud has its own dashboard for cloud agents and model switching.
- Herald OS and Hermes3D are free community dashboards.
- The Agent OS runs Hermes and your other agents in one place.

The built-in Hermes dashboard
Every Hermes install includes a web dashboard. Run hermes dashboard in your terminal and it opens in your browser, where you can set your main model, manage settings and see usage. It talks to Hermes’s API backend (hermes serve), so it shows the same agent you use everywhere else. It’s the best place to start, because it’s official and always matches your Hermes version.

The Hermes Cloud dashboard
If you run Hermes in the cloud through Nous Portal, each agent has its own dashboard: open Hermes Cloud, go to Manage agents, pick your agent and click Open dashboard. This is where you switch models — including free ones like MissingNo — and chat with your cloud agent.
Community dashboards: Herald OS and Hermes3D
Two free community projects, both by Luke The Dev, take very different approaches. Herald OS turns Hermes into an operating-system-style dashboard with a daily overview, spaces for work and personal, missions, memory, files, automations and an activity history. Hermes3D turns your agents into workers in a 3D or 2D pixel office, with standups, a Kanban board and PR reviews. Both are free and MIT-licensed, and both are early software.
The Agent OS dashboard
My Agent OS is a dashboard for running a whole stack of agents, not just Hermes: chat, voice, workspaces where every build lands, model switching and automations, all in one place. It’s available inside the AI Profit Boardroom, with the training to set it up. See my Agent OS guide.
Which Hermes dashboard should you use?
| If you want… | Use |
|---|---|
| Official and simple | The built-in hermes dashboard |
| A cloud agent without a server | Hermes Cloud dashboard |
| Plugins in one click | Hermes Desktop |
| The best-looking free interface | Herald OS |
| To watch a team of agents | Hermes3D |
| Hermes plus other agents in one place | Agent OS |
What a good agent dashboard should show
Four things: what’s running right now, what your agents produced, what’s scheduled next, and what needs your approval. If a dashboard answers those at a glance, you’ll actually use it every day. Extras like 3D offices and themes are fun, but those four answers are what save time.
Running several dashboards at once
You don’t have to choose one. Because they all talk to the same Hermes underneath, your memory, skills and automations stay in sync. I use the Agent OS day to day, Hermes Desktop for plugins, and I test community dashboards like Herald OS and Hermes3D as they ship. My scheduled jobs show up in all of them.
Dashboards for teams
If several people use the same agents, a dashboard becomes a shared window into what the agents are doing. Look for one that shows activity history, so everyone can see what ran and when, and approvals, so the right person signs off on risky actions. Herald OS has a detailed activity history, Hermes3D shows the whole team at once, and an Agent OS keeps every agent’s output in one workspace.
Setting up your first Hermes dashboard
Start simple. Run hermes dashboard and check your model and usage. Then install Hermes Desktop or Herald OS for a daily working interface, and connect a messaging platform so you can check in from your phone. Once you have more than two agents, try Hermes3D to see them all at once. Build up only as your setup grows — a dashboard should save time, not become another thing to manage.
My recommended dashboard setup
For most people I’d recommend three layers. The built-in hermes dashboard for settings and usage, because it’s official and always matches your version. One daily interface — Hermes Desktop, Herald OS or an Agent OS — where you actually chat with your agents and find their work. And your phone, through Telegram or another messaging app, for quick check-ins and scheduled deliveries. Add Hermes3D on top once you’re running a team of agents and want to see them all at once.
The bottom line on Hermes Agent dashboards
Start with the built-in dashboard, add Hermes Desktop or Herald OS for a nicer daily interface, try Hermes3D if you run several agents, and use an Agent OS when you want everything in one place. The best Hermes Agent dashboards are the ones that show you what matters at a glance.
