Grok Bot Android support is official: the Grok Bot app runs on any phone with Android 9 or later and installs from Google Play. It connects to the same Bots, conversations, routines, connectors and shared cloud computer as the desktop app, so a task you start on your phone keeps running in the cloud after you close the app. Your Bot can even use some of your phone’s own apps, like your calendar, contacts and alarms. Below is how to set it up, what you can do from Android, and what still needs the desktop app, all from xAI’s official mobile docs. My video is right under this intro.
Key takeaways
- Needs Android 9 or later; install from Google Play.
- Sign in with the same Cursor account you use on desktop.
- Same Bots, chats, routines and cloud computer, synced.
- Bots can use your Calendar, Contacts, Location and Alarms with your permission.

What Grok Bot on Android does
The Android app is a companion to the desktop app, not a cut-down copy of it. According to the Grok Bot for Mobile page, you can use it to start work, answer a Bot’s questions, approve steps and review results when you’re away from your desk.
The key thing to understand: your phone isn’t where the work happens. Bots do their work on a hosted computer in the cloud, one per member, which the deployment guide says runs Linux. The phone is where you chat, review and approve. That’s why work carries on when the app is closed.

How to install Grok Bot on Android
The requirements are short:
- A phone with Android 9 or later.
- An eligible Grok Bot plan (see the X Subscription page for which plans include it).
- An internet connection.
Then:
- Install Grok Bot from Google Play.
- Open it and choose Log In or Sign Up.
- Finish Cursor sign-in in the browser with the same Cursor account you use on desktop or web.
- If your access comes from a SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription, choose Link Grok Account, finish signing in to Grok, then Finished Linking? Refresh My Status.
New users get a short tour, pick a first Bot and wait while the shared computer is set up. Existing users land straight on their synced Bot list. Turn on notifications if you want to hear when a Bot has a result, a question or an approval request.

Messaging your Bots from Android
From any conversation you can:
- Send text, or dictate with Start dictation.
- Start a live voice chat with Start voice chat, and play voice memos a Bot sends you.
- Take or attach a photo, or pick an image or file.
- Mention another Bot or
@everyonein a group, reply in a thread, or react. - Edit an email or Slack draft a Bot prepared, then choose Send or Discard.
Drafts are saved per conversation. One Android-specific limit: the system share sheet currently accepts text only on Android, while iPhone also takes photos, files and links. Use the attach button for files instead. The Grok Bot iOS guide covers the iPhone side.
Let a Bot use your Android phone’s apps
A Bot can use some apps on your phone when you ask, in your own chat with a Bot you own. It doesn’t work in group chats, in Slack or with someone else’s shared Bot. On Android it covers:
- Calendar: read events, and add, change or delete them. It can’t change repeating events and never invites anyone.
- Contacts: look someone up by name. Read-only.
- Location: your phone’s current position (not an address).
- Alarms: set an alarm or a timer of up to 24 hours. On Android these go to your Clock app, which doesn’t confirm it saved them, so the Bot asks you to check.
Reminders and Apple Home are iPhone only. To grant access ahead of time, open Settings → Connect apps and choose Android; your apps are listed under This device as Allow, Allowed or Denied.
One catch: the Bot can reach your phone only while Grok Bot is open on it. If the app is closed or in the background, the Bot asks you to open it and try again.
Watch and take over the computer
Open the computer from a conversation to watch browser or desktop work, inspect the screen, or take over for a password, a two-factor code or a CAPTCHA. When you’re done, hand control back with I’m done. It’s the same shared computer every Bot on your account uses.
Approvals work the same as on desktop. If your team admin set a limit under Execution on Local Computer, each phone’s page in Manage your devices shows it: Ask every time, Never allow or Always allow. With Auto Review on, it checks each use and can stop to ask.

Routines, search and the Library on Android
- Routines: open a Bot’s profile to see each routine’s schedule, next run, instruction and run history. Use Active to pause or resume, swipe to delete, or choose Edit routine or Add routine.
- Search: find Messages, Bots, Group Chats, Files and Routines from the home screen.
- Library: each Bot’s pages, images, videos, files and links, newest first.
Ready-made routines are a fast start; see my Grok Bot templates guide.
What still needs the desktop app
The docs list a few things the phone can’t do yet:
- Teaching a workflow by demonstration.
- Testing a routine.
- Updating or recovering the cloud computer, or reconnecting your phone when the computer won’t connect.
- Renaming a page.
For those, use the desktop app on Mac, Windows or Linux. Also note that billing bought through Google Play is handled by Google: cancel or change it in the Play app under Payments & subscriptions. Android has no in-app trial, and only monthly individual plans are sold in the app.
My verdict
Install it, sign in with the same account, and allow Calendar and Alarms if you want a Bot that can actually act on your phone. The heavy lifting stays in the cloud, so your battery and data barely notice. For checking in, approving steps and firing off quick jobs, Grok Bot Android is the app to keep on your home screen.
