What Grok Bot on iOS does
The Grok Bot for Mobile page describes the iPhone app as the way to start work, answer questions, approve steps and review results away from your desk. It connects to the same Bots, conversations, routines, connectors and shared cloud computer as the desktop app.
Your iPhone doesn’t do the heavy work. Bots run on a hosted computer in the cloud, so closing the app, or your phone going to sleep, doesn’t stop a background turn or routine. The FAQ confirms it: closing the app, laptop or phone doesn’t stop the work.

How to install Grok Bot on iPhone and iPad
- You need an iPhone on iOS 18 or later, or an iPad on iPadOS 18 or later.
- An eligible Grok Bot plan (see the X Subscription page).
- Download Grok Bot from the App Store.
Open the app, choose Log In or Sign Up, and finish Cursor sign-in in the browser with the same Cursor account you use on desktop. If your access comes from a SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription, choose Link Grok Account, then Finished Linking? Refresh My Status. A link you made on desktop works on the phone too.
If your plan already includes Grok Bot, the docs say not to buy a second subscription through Apple. Allow notifications on first run if you want alerts; the docs note iPhone push delivery is rolling out gradually.

Siri, Shortcuts, Live Activities and the Action Button
This is where the iPhone app pulls ahead. Grok Bot adds four shortcuts you can run from Siri, Spotlight or the Shortcuts app:
- List Bots
- Send Message: for example, say “Send a message in Grok Bot.”
- Start Dictation: dictate to a Bot without opening the app while your iPhone is unlocked. A Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island shows progress, with cancel and send buttons.
- Start Voice Chat: talk to a Bot live, also shown as a Live Activity.
On an iPhone with an Action Button, go to Settings → Action Button, swipe to Shortcut, and choose Grok Bot > Start Voice Chat. One press and you’re talking to your Bot; press again to hang up.
Messaging and the share sheet
In a conversation you can type, dictate, start a voice chat, play a voice memo, attach photos and files, mention Bots or @everyone, reply in threads and react. When a Bot drafts an email or Slack message, you can edit it, then choose Send or Discard.
On iPhone the system share sheet works fully: share a photo, file, link or text, choose Grok Bot, pick a chat and tap Attach. The item lands in that chat’s composer. (On Android the share sheet takes text only for now.)
Let a Bot use your iPhone’s apps
In your own chat with a Bot you own, a Bot can use these apps when you ask:
- Calendar: read, add, change or delete events (not repeating ones; it never invites anyone).
- Contacts: read-only lookups by name.
- Location: your current position.
- Alarms: an alarm or a timer of up to 24 hours. These need a newer iOS than the app itself; if your iPhone can’t, Alarms won’t appear.
- Reminders (iPhone only): read, add, change, check off or delete.
- Home (iPhone only): lights, fans, blinds, thermostats, locks, garage doors and security systems.
Grant access in Settings → Connect apps → iPhone (or iPad). Grok Bot must be open on the phone for the Bot to reach it. Locks, garage doors and security systems follow the same approval rules as other Home changes, so keep Auto Review on.

Approvals, the computer and routines
Open the computer from a chat to watch work, inspect the screen, or take over for a password, a two-factor code or a CAPTCHA, then tap I’m done. If your team admin set a device limit, it shows under Manage your devices as Ask every time, Never allow or Always allow.

Billing and what stays on desktop
Apple handles any subscription you buy in the app, including App Store free trials. Cancel or change it in Apple ID → Subscriptions before a trial ends if you don’t want it to convert. Cursor can’t cancel or refund an in-app plan for you. Only monthly individual plans are sold in the app.
Teaching a workflow by demonstration, testing routines, and updating or recovering the cloud computer still need the desktop app on Mac, Windows or Linux.
My verdict
If you own an iPhone, this is the best mobile version of Grok Bot. Set the Action Button to Start Voice Chat, allow Calendar and Reminders, and you have a Bot you can talk to in one press while the real work runs in the cloud. That’s why Grok Bot iOS is worth setting up today.
