What Are High PR Backlinks?
The PR stands for “page rank” and it’s a way to measure the value of the link.
Page rank score is between 1-10 with 1 being the least valuable and 10 being the most valuable.
In general, there is a direct correlation between high PR pages and high search engine rankings, so earning links with high PR scores is essential to increasing your site’s rankings.
These backlinks come from websites with a high PageRank, a measure of a website’s authority and trustworthiness.
High PR backlinks can help improve your website’s ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs) by demonstrating its credibility and importance.

How To Get High PR Backlinks 2023
Most SEO experts recommend earning links by doing guest posts or publishing content on other sites.
Although these are excellent ways to earn high-quality backlinks, there are many more options for you to try.
So without further ado, let’s get into the strategies.
1. HARO
HARO stands for “Help a Reporter Out,” and it’s a service that connects journalists, bloggers, and entrepreneurs with sources.
It works in a simple three-step process – journalists post requests for information on the website, sources provide information, journalists use content from sources in their articles.
In addition to being an excellent way to earn links for your site, it’s also very easy to do.
I’ve written an in-depth guide on how to use HARO Backlinks: Build Links With HARO (Fast)!

2. Skyscraper Technique
Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Skyscraper” is just another buzzword.
However, if done right it can be one of the greatest sources for earning high PR backlinks.
In fact, we specifically use skyscraper content to help one of our clients get from 0 to 145,000 monthly visitors generating thousands of sales each month in revenue for them.
So what is skyscraper content?
Skyscraper content is the process of creating a truly unique piece of content based on an existing piece that’s ranking well on Google.
But unlike other pieces, your content will be better in some way – either more in-depth, entertaining or otherwise valuable to your readers.
There are 4 steps when it comes to building backlinks with the skyscraper content:
- Competitor Analysis – Look at what content your competitors are publishing. Identify what types of posts they’re creating that get a lot of shares and backlinks.
- Prospecting – After doing competitor analysis, build up a list of websites that are linking to your competitor you can contact to publish your skyscraper post.
- Create the skyscraper content – In this step, you’ll be looking at your competitor’s articles and figuring out how you can beat them with your skyscraper content. This can be achieved through an article that’s better designed, more comprehensive, more entertaining. The bottom line is to create something that will truly outshine your competitor’s content so that other webmasters would link to your piece of content instead.
- Cold email outreach – The final step to this technique is to reach out to webmasters that are linking to your competitor’s content and pitching them your skyscraper piece.
Here’s an example of an email template you could use for your cold email outreach:

3. Building Links From Outdated Resources
This is a new method I’ve been using recently to build high PR backlinks from older posts.
In many industries, people are still linking to old resources in their posts – even if the resource isn’t valuable or up-to-date.
So what you can do is find these old source materials and try adding a link to your content in it.
The first step in this method is to find websites in your industry that have:
- Changed their brand names
- Moved to a new URL
- Stopped offering a service/product
- Stopped updating their old resource
- Closed down/went out of business
Once you’ve identified websites that fit the above criteria, then it’s time to do some backlink analysis – to find all the backlinks that are pointing to those pages.
You can do this by grabbing the URL of the outdated resource and plugging it into the backlink checker tool of your choice. (We use Ahrefs)
The last step in this method is to reach out to the webmasters that are linking to the outdated resources – letting them know that they’re linking to an outdated resource and suggesting that they link to your site instead (As long as it’s in a relevant niche).
Pro Tip: Always provide value when doing outreach, and try not to be too salesy. Be genuine and look to provide value while pitching your content instead of focusing on getting a link.
4. Create Highly Linkable Infographics
There’s nothing webmasters love more than to link to infographics, especially when they’re well-designed and contain some sort of catchy data or facts.
Not only are they highly linkable, but they’re also useful for driving traffic from social media as infographics are highly shareable.
So what you can do is to create some sort of informative infographic that’s based on your niche (or something related to it).
Make sure you include statistics, facts, figures, etc – anything that would be good linkbait.
The next step is to reach out to people and websites that link to infographics and pitch them your content to acquire new backlinks!
Over time, as your site starts to rank higher and higher in search engines, you’ll start to notice new links pointing to your infographics naturally.
5. Turn Brand Mentions Into Quality Backlinks
This is a strategy that I use in my own business, and it’s brought me a lot of success in terms of acquiring high-quality branded backlinks.
All you need to do for this technique is find sites or blogs that have mentioned your brand name or URL – but not linked to them at all!
This is an incredibly easy way to acquire new backlinks because the author of the site or blog already likes you!
Simply reach out to them with a friendly email like so:
“Hey [Name],
We were just browsing through your [site/blog].
Love your work!
I just wanted to reach out to thank you for mentioning [Your Brand Name] in your article. This is much appreciated.
If you have a minute, could you link the mention to my website url? [Your URL] That way, your readers can easily find the post on our blog that you mentioned.
Thanks again. Have a great day!
Best,
[Your Name]
It’s that simple 🙂
Pro Tip: Once you got your branded link placed, be sure to ask them if they have any more content your brand/content would be useful in. This will potentially give you more exposure to their readership.
6. Guest Blogging
Guest blogging is the act of writing content for another blog while getting a backlink to your own site within the article. It is one of the oldest and most effective strategies out there for acquiring new backlinks.
I won’t go into too many details, but here are some pointers to keep in mind when guest blogging:
- Guest blogging is most effective if you’re writing about something that your target blog audience will be interested in.
- Make sure you format the article with your target keywords at least once, using those target keywords as an anchor text back to your own site.
- Don’t guest post to irrelevant sites.

7. Podcast Link Building
Podcasts are great because they are highly linkable, social media friendly (you can share the podcast episode directly on sites like Twitter and Facebook) and insanely easy to distribute.
But starting a podcast can be hard due to the time and effort it takes. Plus you’ll need the right technology to run a successful podcast. (you’ll need decent equipment and the right software to record, edit, etc).
Luckily for you, there’s another easy way to get podcast-style backlinks.
This is by appearing as a guest on other podcasts – aka. guest podcasting.
I know, it sounds crazy! But it’s actually pretty simple.
So how do you find podcasts to be a guest on?
Let me give you a hint – Prospecting.
Find industry podcasts that your target audience listens to and search for their contact page. Some common places to find podcasts are iTunes, Google Play Music, iHeartRadio, etc.
Once you’ve found them, it’s time to reach out.
Here’s an example of a guest podcasting outreach email:
Hey [Podcast Host],
I was just listening to your podcast on [Podcast Topic] and I really enjoyed your content. Great job!
My name is [your name] and I’m the [your position] at [your company].
We were just talking about [an interesting relevant topic] on our website that I think your listeners would be interested in.
I was wondering if you’d like to have me on as a guest to talk about it?
If you are, I would love to chat with you. Could we set up a time to talk over the phone?
Thanks again for your great content!
Best,
[your name]
Aside from getting a link from the podcast, there’s an added benefit of appearing on a podcast as a guest – Social Proof
People will see that you’re a guest on their favourite podcast and will probably think – “Wow, this company is legit!”… which means they’ll be more likely to become your customers, or at least visit your webpage.
8. The Merger Technique
This method will require a bit of cash to get started, but it’s one of the best ways to acquire websites with high-quality link profiles & high PR backlinks.
The merger technique is simple:
You purchase a website with solid link profiles. (preferably ones that are in the same niche) then 301 redirect it to your money site.
Here are some examples of businesses that used the merger technique to skyrocket their SEO:
- Neil Patel acquiring UberSuggest
- Backlinko acquiring Point Blanket SEO (301 redirect to Backlinko)
This method is effective because it gives you instant exposure to the entire website’s previous backlink profiles, which boosts your rankings.
How to Find High PR Dofollow Backlinks
Dofollow backlinks are links that search engines follow and count towards your website’s ranking. To find high PR dofollow backlinks, consider the following techniques:
Competitor Analysis
Analyze your competitors’ backlink profiles to identify high PR dofollow backlinks they’ve acquired. Tools like Ahrefs, Moz, and SEMrush can help you conduct thorough backlink research. Once you’ve found these backlinks, you can devise strategies to earn similar links for your own website.
Guest Posting
Guest posting on high PR websites is another way to obtain high PR dofollow backlinks. Identify reputable websites in your niche that accept guest posts, and pitch your ideas to them. Make sure to provide valuable content, and include a dofollow backlink to your site within the article or author bio.
Resource Pages
Some websites maintain resource pages that link to valuable content in their industry. Reach out to these websites and suggest your content as a resource. If your content is deemed valuable, you may be able to secure a high PR dofollow backlink.

But do keep in mind that the main thing you should be focusing on is creating a website/blog that is truly useful and provides value for your target audience.
