Here’s one way to find out what people are searching for – By typing the search query in Google. 

We’ll use “how do I rank #1 on Google” as an example.

By doing this, you’ll see who ranks the highest and learn about other topics that have been queried by others too!

Have a look at the “People also ask”  section.

You’ll find topics related to your blog topic, as well as additional keyword variations you can include in a blog post and potentially rank for too!

Now, structure your blog post out so that you can best answer the questions that you’ve researched.

Remember – the key to a great blog post is answering questions and providing useful information to the user.

The best piece of advice I can give you when it comes to writing your content is not to overcomplicate it.

Keep it simple, concise and easy to read.

When writing your content, split it out into an easily digestible format. You can do this by keeping your paragraphs short and using easy to understand language.

“Bounce rate” is a metric that Google uses to rank your website.

So, the longer people stay on your website, it indicates to Google that your blog post is providing value to the user and therefore ranks you higher.

As a rule of thumb:  You’re writing for the reader, not for Google’s algorithm. 

It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking, “let’s put as many keywords as I can into the content so Google will rank my blog.” – That is actually an outdated strategy that doesn’t work anymore.

The problem with this strategy is that your content won’t feel human or natural. People just won’t enjoy an article that has the same keyword 15 times in 3 paragraphs.

They’ll just bounce right off the page and onto a competitor’s resource instead. 

That said, optimizing your blog article for SEO is also an important ranking factor. Use a free plugin like Yoast SEO to help!

You need to make sure that your URL, meta-title, and meta-description are optimized for SEO.

So include your keywords in these areas, but again – don’t overdo it. Use natural language that tells the reader clearly what the page is about.

Once you have a blog post that has been optimized for search engines, you’ll already be getting traffic from organic searches; however, having backlinks is also important because…

The higher quality sites that link back to yours, the more likely you’ll be able to rank #1!
