In this article, I will share with you some Ecommerce SEO tips that will help bring customers to your store whether you have money for paid Ads or are still bootstrapping on a budget.

Your ability to generate sales from your eCommerce site is directly tied to traffic.

It is the lifeblood of any store. Even brick and mortar stores rely on foot traffic to make sales.

Of course, the amount of traffic is not everything, attracting visitors that are ready to make a purchase is also important.

But, the more people visit your online store, the more likely you are to make a sale.

Getting these customers to keep coming back to your store is just as important.

So, if you wanna learn more about techniques for driving more repeat visitors to your store through SEO, make sure to read the article ’till the end.

The 7 Tips to Boost Traffic to Your Online Store

So first, let’s take a look at the more budget-friendly tips before tackling the paid traffic driving methods.

Let’s dive in!

Leverage Pinterest marketing

Pinterest is a great place to showcase your products and use pins to drive traffic right back to your site.

The platform acts more like a search engine than a social media platform – and the people searching on this platform are people with a lot of spending power!

First off, make sure you join relevant group boards. Group boards have several contributors who can add pins to them, which means that you can leverage other users’ followers and traffic sources to get more eyeballs on your own pins.

You can also create your own boards on your profile. Each board should have at least ten pins, but be sure to pin consistently on each board to keep driving traffic to them.

For each board – and each pin – use relevant keywords in your descriptions that your audience might be searching for.

For example, if I search for ‘sit up machine’, these pins will come up.

They wouldn’t have shown up if the companies that created the pins hadn’t tagged them with the right keyword.

You can also choose to upgrade your strategy by using Promoted Pinterest Pins and make sure you only pay to target audiences that actively engage with your pins.

Publish Blog Content

Content marketing is one of the most powerful ways to drive traffic to your store because it cultivates trust and establishes your brand as an authority in your niche.

Customers often look for advice and education before buying a product that will help solve an issue they have

If you take up the role of educator, customers will be more inclined to pick your product since you solved the first step of their problem using quality content.

For example, if you own a linens business, and you publish content on how to make arts and crafts with your linens.  People who read the article will learn about your brand, which in turn leads to purchases of your products to make the crafts.

Your keyword research is going to be vital for effective content marketing. Make sure you research keywords that are relevant to your products and create blog posts about them.

Optimize Your Online Store for Search Engines

In my opinion, search engine optimization is widely ignored by small online stores mainly because results are not immediate and it requires deep SEO knowledge.

However, this approach is counter-productive since your store won’t show up in search results unless you optimize for the specific search terms being used by prospective buyers.

This means optimizing key pages in your online store such as the homepage, category pages, product pages, about us page, and contact information page.

You must also make sure your images, product descriptions, and alt tags are using the proper keywords.

Pay Attention to Off-Page SEO

Off-page SEO is everything you do outside your website to increase its rankings, and backlinks are arguably the most important off-page ranking factor.

Backlinks are essentially just links back to your site from other websites. If you have backlinks, it means that other websites vouch for you, and Google will see your brand as credible and trustworthy.

The more you get links from high-authority sites to your store, the higher you will rank in search results.

High search rankings lead to more visibility, and more visibility means more traffic.

You can start building backlinks by reaching out to the manufacturers you work with and asking them to link to you on their blogs.

My free Link Building Mastery Book covers other proven strategies for building backlinks to your store.

Other off-page SEO factors you need to pay attention to include page speed and site security. Use Google’s Page Speed Insights and Safe Browsing Checker tools to check if your site is well optimized for both factors.

Paid Traffic Driving Strategies for Your Store

Now that we’ve discussed some of the best ways to drive traffic without an ads budget, what should you do if you have some money to spend on your marketing campaign?

Use Facebook and Instagram Ads

With over 4.2 billion social media users, there’s a good chance your customers are on platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

You can use Facebook and Instagram Ads to elevate your brand to get seen & heard.

Advertising on both platforms is an effective strategy for driving traffic to your store, but can also be a huge waste of money when not done correctly.

Here are a few tips to help you succeed:

-Don’t just set your ads and forget them – test out different variations of ad copy and images to see which ones get you the best conversion rates and cheapest cost per sale

-Give people a reason to click on your ad, like special sales and promotions (and don’t be afraid to test out different promotions to see what your audience responds to)

-Create a targeted landing page specifically for your ad campaign – don’t just drive people to your home page or a page with all your products.

You’ll  also want to implement a Facebook pixel on every page of your online store so that you can collect data on your campaign

Leverage Influencer Marketing

The right influencer on Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms can help you drive traffic to your store and generate more sales.

The influencer needs to be creating content that is relevant to the product you want to sell. For example, if you sell fitness wear, then your ideal influencers might be fitness models.

When you choose an influencer, it’s better to start with a small collaboration to test out the waters.

Here are a few ways to get influencers to talk about your products on their accounts:

– Send them some free samples

-Create an exclusive discount for their followers

-Offer them a revenue share if their followers use the code and buy your products

Once the influencer reviews your products, you can even actively engage with the leads by following the comments and responding to those who show interest in your products.

Launch a Google Ad Campaign

Google Ads can help you show up on the front page of search results without having to rank for high-value keywords.

These ads appear at the top and bottom of search results and they work on a pay-per-click model, meaning you only pay for the clicks that your ads generate.

Here’s an example of a paid search ad from Microsoft:

When you are getting started, focus on long-tail keywords for your campaigns. These types of keywords are not only cheaper to bid on, but they’re also more likely to convert.

Also, make sure the landing page on your site fits the search intent of the searcher.

It wouldn’t make sense to direct users who search for educational content – such as ‘how to look good in swimwear’ – to a products page when they are really looking for a video or blog post instead.

Conclusion

Don’t get overwhelmed trying to apply all these tips at once. It is best to try out two or three strategies at the beginning and scale accordingly to what your marketing budget looks like.

Be sure to test out the different strategies so you can figure out the most suitable methods for your own eCommerce store.
